    Current Scholarships Available

    ACT Student Champion Award

    Award recognizes one student in each state who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale. Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.  Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. Deadline: December 31
     

    AES Engineering Scholarship

    This $500 award is available to high school seniors motivated to furthering their education. You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. Students must submit an essay to a question posted on their web site: www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline: October 5
     

    Abbott and Fenner Business Consultants Scholarship

    The A & F Scholarships worth $1,000 are available to juniors and seniors with the desire and ambition to succeed. To apply you must write an essay in response to the topic found at www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline: June 12
     

    American Cancer Society Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program

    The Great West Division of the ACS awards $2,500 renewable scholarships to young cancer survivors. Apply at www.cancer.org/myacs/greatwest/programsandservices/childhood-cancer-survivor-college-scholarship-program. Deadline: February 22
     

    American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program

    The scholarship is designed to encourage African-American, Hispanic, and Native American students to pursue college degrees in the chemical sciences. ACS will award scholarships worth up to $5,000 per year. Apply at www.chemistry.org/scholars. Deadline: March 1
     

    America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarships

    More than $500,000 will be awarded to students interested in Ag Careers.  Go to AmericasFarmers.com for more info and official rules.  Apply at FFA.org/scholarships.  Deadline: February 6
     

    American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Contest

    National essay contest with a total of ten $2,000 scholarships. Contest details, essay requirements and the application process can be found at www.afsascholarship.org. Deadline: April 1
     

    American Indian College Fund/Hilton Family Diversity Scholarship

    Scholarship awards of up to $2,500 for American Indian students entering tribal colleges. Must have a GPA of at least 3.0, financial need, and demonstrated leadership, service, and commitment to the American Indian community. Visit www.collegefund.org for more information.     AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarships

    Students can apply for multiple scholarships including a ND Department Scholarship (2) as well as a national scholarship.  Must be son, daughter, step-child, grandchild, or step-grandchild of current member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.  For more info on state scholarship, contact Shirley White at 701-237-4122.  The applications and criteria can be found at www.amvetsaux.org.  Deadline: April 25
     
    American Legion Auxiliary Scholarships
    The American Legion Auxiliary Department of ND sponsors scholarships for nursing students as well as students seeking a degree in the field of their choice.  Several national level scholarships are also awarded. Deadlines: Vary

     

    American Legion Riders Scholarship

    The District #8 American Legion Riders are offering up to ten scholarships of $1,000 each to North Dakota students. The number of awarded scholarships will depend on the number of applications received.  The essay is a huge deciding factor on being awarded this scholarship. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be a son, daughter, or spouse of a veteran and a ND resident that is continuing their education beyond high school.  Deadline: April 30
     

    America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarships

     Anne Krapu-High Plains Reader Journalism Scholarship

    Applebee’s Apple Award Scholarship

    Community members, educators and parents are invited to nominate outstanding students for the Apple Award.  Nominations are open for the first three weeks of each month at http://applecorecommunity.com/.  The top nominees will be posted to the website for that final week and the public is invited to vote for the Apple Award Student of the Month for their city.  Monthly winners will then compete for one of three $1,000 scholarships at the end of the school year.
     

    Army Emergency Relief - James Ursano Scholarship Fund

    Awards primarily based on need for dependent children of Army soldiers on active duty, retired or deceased. Applicants must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA. Download at www.aerhq.org. Deadline: May 1
     

    Aspiring Animation Professional Scholarship

    This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Find application at http://www.animationcareerreview.com/. Deadline: June 1
     

    Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship

    Aspiring Nurse Scholarship

    Associated General Contractors of North Dakota Scholarships

    Scholarships worth $1,500 for students planning to enroll in Construction Management or Construction Engineering at NDSU and $750 awards for those in construction related careers at BSC or NDSCS in Wahpeton. Download at www.agcnd.org. Deadline: April 27
     

    AXA Achievement Scholarship

    For seniors who are active in the community, have led a project that benefits others, and overcome personal challenges. Awards of $2,500, $10,000, and $25,000 -  a winner in every state.     B. Davis Scholarship

    A $1,000 scholarship open to juniors and seniors who submit a 1,000 word essay on topic found at www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarship.htm. Deadline: May 22
     

    Baron and Budd Attorneys Mesothelioma Cancer Victims Memorial Scholarships

    Awards of $2,500 for top video (2-3 minutes) and top essay (800-1,250 words) addressing how cancer has impacted your life (can be any kind of cancer).  Deadline: July 16
     

    Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship Program

    More than 160 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are awarded to children of full-time employees of Basin and its subsidiaries, and the children of member-cooperative employees and consumers. Deadline: February 15
     

    BCC Foundation Donna Johnson Memorial Scholarship

    The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation (BCCF) will award two $1000 scholarships to individuals who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing and who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing through a Bismarck college.      Benjamin Berg Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship fund was stablished to honor the memory of Benjamin Berg, a 2016 CHS graduate. Preference will be given to seniors who participated in baseball at CHS and have a GPA of 3.5 or above. Find at www.bpsfoundation.com/scholarships. Deadline: April 1
     

    Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship

    The BBB will award  scholarships to students who personify all the best aspects of high character in their personal choices and actions. Application includes essay of 1,000 words or less or short video. Available online at  https://www.bbb.org/local-bbb/bbb-of-minnesota-and-north-dakota. Deadline: TBA
     

    BigSun Athletic Organization Scholarship

    A $500 scholarship is awarded by BigSun Athletics to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. Complete essay in response to question found on their website: www.bigsunathletics.com. Deadline: June 20
     

    Bismarck Dollars for Scholars

    Scholarships of $500 will be given to successful applicants from the Bismarck area who plan to further their education. At least two of the scholarships will be awarded to seniors who plan to attend a vocational-technical school. Online at: www.bismarck.dollarsforscholars.org. Deadline: February 28
     

    Bismarck Eagles Auxiliary BSC/University of Mary Scholarship

    The Eagles Auxiliary provides a $500 scholarship to a student attending BSC or UMary. Financial need is given more importance than scholastic average. Deadline: April 15
     

    Bismarck Kiwanis Club Servant Leader Scholarship

    Individual one-time scholarships of $1,000 are given to four local seniors who plan to enroll in an institution of higher learning in North Dakota. Criteria includes: scholastic record and ACT/SAT scores; future plans, school activity record and personal qualities that indicate potential success in college; good citizenship and service involvement; and financial need. Deadline: March 1
     

    Bismarck-Mandan Mayors’ Committee for People with Disabilities

    Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students wishing to pursue post-secondary education.  Any student with a qualifying disability is eligible to apply.  Deadline:  April 26
     

    Bismarck Masonic Foundation Scholarship

    Five scholarship awards are given to Bismarck seniors who plan to attend college in ND. Criteria includes academic record, future plans, an essay and school, church, & community involvement. Deadline: April 9
     

    Bismarck Rotary Club

    The Bismarck Rotary club awards six $2500 scholarships-one to a graduating senior from each local high school. Criteria includes: scholastic record, co-curricular and community involvement and leadership qualities. Application available at the Rotary website.  Deadline: March 15
     

    Bismarck State College Foundation Scholarships

    Awards from $500 to $2,000 per year for qualifying students in academic, energy,  performing arts, visual arts,  journalism and certain technical programs at BSC.  Students with a GPA between 3.0 and 4.0 have a good chance of earning a scholarship!  Find a complete listing and applications at https://bismarckstate.edu/alumnifoundation/foundation/scholarships/.  Priority Deadline:  January 1
     

    Bismarck State College - Chesak Family Scholarship

    This $1000 scholarship is available to new students at BSC in one of the following programs: Geographic Information Systems Tech; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; Mechanical Maintenance Technology; Medical Laboratory Sciences; Web Page Development & Design. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Apply at: www.bismarckstate.edu/scholarships. Deadline: April 30
     

    Bismarck Tribune Teen of the Week

    The Bismarck Tribune, along with MDU Resources, will honor one high school senior each week.  At the end of the school year, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student.  All around students, who excel in the classroom, extra-curriculars, the workplace, and in the community are encouraged to apply.
     

    Burger King Scholars Program

    Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000, and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average (2.5 min), work experience, co-curricular activities and community service. Apply at bk-scholars.com.  Deadline:  December 15
     

    Capital Credit Union Scholarship

    Capital Credit Union is offering scholarships for seniors who are members (or their parents are members) of CCU and will be attending college in ND. The scholarship application is available at www.capcu.org in January of each year and specific details and deadline information is included at that time.

    Christ the King PTO Scholarship
    This Scholarship fund has been established in the spirit of educational concern of the parents involved in the group known as Christ the King Parent-Teacher Organization. Applications are available in the counseling office in the Spring.  Deadline:  April 16
     
    Citizen’s Bank Scholarhsip
    College scholarships are available to help fund undergraduate education.

    Centennial PTO Shelley Stumpf Memorial Scholarship

    Two seniors who attended Centennial for a minimum of one year will receive $300. The committee will consider the following criteria: school and community involvement, academic standing, and an essay. Applicants should visit the PTO page at www.bismarckschools.org/centennial to download an application. Deadline: February 28
     

    Coca-Cola Scholars Program

    150 well-rounded seniors who are active in their school and community and balance extra-curricular activities with strong academic performances will be named "Coca-Cola Scholars" and awarded $20,000 scholarships. The application can be found at the Coca-Cola web site at http://www.coca-colascholars.org. Deadline: October 31
     

    Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program

    One hundred awards of $1,500 will be presented to seniors whose families are engaged in production agriculture and plan to pursue a career in agriculture. Minimum ACT composite score of 18 required. Download applications at www.monsanto.com, or www.nafb.com. Deadline: February 15

    Coteau Properties Scholarhship
    High school seniors with a 2.5 gpa or higher and planning to pursue an A.A.S. degree in Diesel, Electrical, or Welding Technology are eligible . Deadline: March 31

     

    Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas Scholarship

    Ten $500 scholarships will be awarded. Recipients must be members of a credit union in North Dakota, and must exemplify “people helping people” through volunteering, community service, and leadership. Visit the Credit Union Foundation of the Dakotas website to access the scholarship information and application.  Deadline:  March 30
     

    Dakota Community Bank & Trust Scholarship

    North Dakota high school seniors who demonstrate community and/or school involvement and plan to continue their education by enrolling full-time (12 credits or more) in the fall are encouraged to apply.  Eleven recipients will be chosen to receive this $500 award.  Available on the bank's website.  Deadline:  March 5
     

    Dakota Stage/Shade Tree Scholarship Award

    Seniors who are alumni of Shade Tree Players or Dakota Stage Ltd. are eligible to apply for this $500 award. Requirements include one-page essay, theatrical resume, 2 letters of reference, and 20 hours of community service. Download application at www.dakotastageltd.com. Deadline: March 1
     

    Ducks Unlimited National Scholarship Program

    Ducks Unlimited (DU) will award 61 college scholarships (ranging from $500 to $10,000) to graduating seniors who are members of DU. Volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation are encouraged to apply. Students must have GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Deadline: January 15

    Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship
    Four $1,500 scholarships for students  planning to attend a ND college or university. Preference will be given to, but is not limited to, students whose families have taken an active role in state water resources management and students studying water-related fields.  Go to www.ndwater.org/scholarship-program/.  Deadline: April 1

     

    Education is Freedom (EIF) Scholarship

    EIF is a new national foundation that provides scholarships ranging from $500 - $5,000 to ‘B' average students whose families cannot afford tuition and whose grades do not qualify them for traditional scholarships.     Elks Emergency Educational Grant
    Renewable one-year grants of up to $4000 for child of Elks who are deceased or totally incapacitated. Visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars for details or email scholarship@elks.org to request application.
     

    Elks Legacy Awards

    Four-year $4,000 awards for children or grandchildren of an Elk in good standing. Applicant should exhibit core values of knowledge, charity, community and integrity. Also judged on ACT/SAT scores, transcript, application and essay. Available at enf.elks.org/Leg. Deadline: February 5
     

    Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

    Local winners (3 male, 3 female) receive from $400-$800. Five hundred national winners receive a minimum of $1,000. Must be a U.S. citizens, do not have to be related to an Elks member. Judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Available at enf.elks.org/MVS. Deadline: November 15
     

    EngTech Scholarship

    Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 to students accepted into an accredited engineering program or architectural program in North Dakota.  Deadline:  February 28
     

    Farm Credit Services of ND Scholarships in Agriculture

    Ten scholarships worth $1000 each will be awarded to seniors who plan to enroll in college this fall. The recipient must be from an actively farming or ranching family OR planning to pursue an agricultural career. Selection is based on academic record, personal attributes, vocational promise, leadership, and financial need. Apply at www.farmcreditmandan.com or www.farmcreditnd.com. Deadline: March 1
     

    Farmers Union Co-op House Scholarship

    For students with at least a 2.5 GPA planning to attend NDSU and are Farmers Union members, relatives of past Co-op House members or member of a cooperative. Financial need, ACT scores, and personal references are also considered. Website: www.ndfu.org/youtheducation/scholarships.asp. Deadline: March 15
     

    First Community Credit Union Scholarship

    Both multi-year (renewable) and single year scholarships of $1000 will be awarded to FCCU members or children of FCCU members. Criteria includes GPA, test scores, extra-curricular activities and essay. Go to www.myFCCU.com. Deadline: Third Friday of March

    FIRE’S Essay Contest
    High school juniors and seniors are eligible to participate in FIRE’s essay contest.  Students must submit an application between 800-100 words on a provided topic.  To enter visit:  www.thefire.org/contest Deadline:  December 31
     
    Fireside Catholic Publishing

    Flavorful Futures Scholarship

    Sparkling Ice is awarding five scholarships of $5,000 that celebrate students' individuality, creativity and communication of future goals.  Apply at flavorfulfutures.com.  Deadline: February 15 
     

    Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund

    The Freedom Alliance honors our military heroes by granting scholarships for dependent sons or daughters of US soldiers who were permanently disabled or killed while serving their country. Apply at www.FAScholarship.com.
     

    Gene L. Kouba Memorial Scholarship

    Adam Klein Chapter #3, Disabled American Veterans offers this scholarship worth up to $1,000 for veterans of the US Armed Forces, spouses and children of veterans. Deadline: March 15
     

    GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

    This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. They're looking for students with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 per student. Apply online at www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships. Deadline: January 4
     

    Heisman High School Scholarship

    Winning a Heisman High School Scholarship presented by Acceptance Insurance requires a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better, participation in at least one sport, and demonstrated leadership at school and in the community. School Winners from every school, 88 State Winners receive a $1,000 scholarship, 10 National Finalists receive a $2,000 scholarship, 2 National Winners receive a $10,000 scholarship!  Apply here.  Deadline: October 19
     

    Highland Acres Elementary Scholarship

    Students who attended Highland Acres for a minimum of three years are eligible for this $500 award.  Deadline: May 8
     

    Horatio Alger Association Scholarships

    Scholarships available to juniors planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree who have financial need, are involved in co-curricular and community activities and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Apply online at https://scholars.horatioalger.org/horatio-alger-scholarship-applications/.  Deadline:  October 25
     

    Horatio Alger National Career and Technical Scholarships

    Scholarships (up to $2,500) available to seniors seeking to pursue career or technical education in a post-secondary school. For students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance. Apply online at application.horatioalger.org. Deadline: June 15
     

    Horizon Financial Bank Scholarship

    The employees of Horizon Financial Bank are offering one $300 scholarship to a senior from  Bismarck. The applicant and/or parent must be a customer of the bank. A link to the scholarship application is available on the Promotions page of the bank's website - www.horizonfinancialbank.com.  Deadline: May 1
     

    Horizon Middle School Staff Scholarship

    One-time scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded to graduating seniors who attended Horizon Middle School for at least two full years.     North Dakota Jaycee Senate Lisa Burdolski Memorial Scholarship

    The ND Jaycee Senate awards four scholarships worth $300 each. The scholarships are dedicated to the memory of Lisa Burdolski, a child of a Jaycee who died as a result of a car accident. Two primary award winners and two alternate winner will be selected. Primary winners are then eligible to compete nationally for $1000 scholarships from the US JCI Senate Foundation.     North Dakota Scholars Program

    Recognizes outstanding students for scholastic achievement as measured by ACT score and academic record. Only ACT scores earned prior to senior year are considered. Top scholars who enroll in a ND college or university will be awarded an in-state tuition scholarship. Funding is available for approximately 30-40 new students each year. There is no application.
     

    North Dakota School Counselor Association Scholarship

    NDSU Freshmen Opportunity Scholarship

    The donor of the award is anonymous but has made it clear that academics do not factor in the award, which covers ½ in-state tuition ($3,951) at NDSU.  The award is intended for a 1st Generation College Student and in the words of the donor “Students do not need to have the best academic credentials. Rather the recipient should have demonstrated financial need and some “grit” to them, and have overcome personal hardship in their personal lives.” Deadline: February 1

    STEM Scholarship for Aspiring Commercial Drone Pilots

    Scholarship designed to support high school students ages 16 and up who are serious about learning how to fly drones commercially.  Recipients receive free access to an in-depth test prep course for the FAA’s “Part 107” certification exam to be a commercial drone pilot (usual cost is $299). The first 100 recipients will have their FAA exam fee of $150 covered, for a total value of approximately $450.     Through the Looking Glass Scholarship
